Precision casting refers to the technology of obtaining precise dimensional castings. Precision casting produces finished parts with smoother surfaces, lower tolerances and thinner walls than traditional sand casting. It includes investment casting, ceramic mold casting, metal mold casting, die casting and lost foam casting, which is common in the foundry industry.

Investment casting, also known as lost wax casting, manufactures parts from molten metal, usually stainless alloys, brass, aluminum, and carbon steel.

The first step in the process is to create a metal mold, then fill it with hot wax and build a wax version of the final product. In the second step, pouring several parts at a time, several wax molds can be assembled into a tree, carefully connecting them with wax runners and runners. Next, the "tree" is repeatedly dipped into the slurry and coated with a layer of sand that hardens as it dries, which we call "shell". The shells are then heated to remove the wax. The sprue and the wax in the sprue also flows out of the tree, forming pipes and tubes that allow the molten metal to follow and completely fill the mold. As a final step, the molten metal is poured into the now empty mold and allowed to solidify. Finally, the shell is destroyed for final post-processing.
