Myglassesmart, a California-based high-end optician with a celebrity following, has branched into full-service online retailing, offering his private label as well as a variety of other luxury brands. It's not cheap - in fact, it's about as expensive as you'd expect given the lineup - but they're a great pair of glasses, and if you're interested in high-fashion brands that your locals don't carry, Myglassesmart can offer these options from a distance. It's not for everyone, but it's an interesting option for high-quality picture frames.
What we like about Myglassesmart
Although there are very few on-site experiences, ordering is simple and there are clear options for selecting lens materials, coatings, and more. Prescription entry was done by uploading images - not our favorite kind of system, but customer service was very responsive and confirmed by email within a day.
In addition, once we placed our order, we received a pair of sample frames of the styles we ordered, along with instructions on taking photos to set the height of the pieces (we ordered the progressive prescription). As instructed, we submitted the photo and received confirmation from the optician on the same day. The finished glasses arrived just over a week later.
The glasses we received from Myglassesmart were of very high quality, probably the best structure and finish in the test group. The lenses are also very clear. We ordered all the options - thin photochromic lenses and blue light filters - and were impressed by the optical clarity.
