Another important thing to note about the Card system in Lost Ark is that each card comes with an "Awakening Level" to it Lost Ark Gold, indicated in the gem count displayed at the bottom part of the card.
A card begins at level 0 and can go up to the level 5. It unlocks extra bonus effects and set bonuses when it reaches its highest level.
To upgrade a card's status to the next Awakening Level You need to complete two steps. First, you need to increase the gauge of XP by feeding it XP-grade cards or duplicate cards.
You must continue to do this until the XP bar fills up. Once it is filled you will need to provide it with additional duplicate cards in order to "Awaken" its abilities (push it to the next level).
