Blizzard Entertainment has announced the new patch for WOW WoTLK Classic Gold called Eternity's End. It is the very first significant story update in the series since patch 9.1 that was released on June 29 2022. Earlier this month the game's creator released patch 9.1.5. which was a smaller patch mainly focused on improving the quality of life. Also, it brought back famous features such as The Mage Tower challenges. The releases of new content to the game have been held back over the past several months due the impending Activision Blizzard lawsuit and subsequent resultant fallout. With the recent announcement of the new patch, Blizzard is likely hoping to bring back interest to World of Warcraft, which faces stiff competition from popular MMORPGs such as Final Fantasy XIV.
The current WoW story update, Chains of Domination, ended at a cliff-hanger when the champions of Azeroth did not have the ability to defeat the expansion's main antagonist, The Jailer. The Jailer had won the battle The Jailer entered an unidentified portal at the close of the final fight, leaving Sylvanas Windrunner in the hands of Azeroth champions. But, before leaving the scene, he infused her with the soul shard, causing fans to speculate on Sylvanas possibly regaining her life. It was also the final raid-related content in games, leaving avid players with no choice over the past several months.
Today in a developer preview that was posted to the World of Warcraft YouTube channel, Blizzard Entertainment revealed the most upcoming major update to the expansion, Eternity's Finale. The details are further explained in an article posted on the World of Warcraft website, this picks up the story after the events of patch 9.1 as champions fight The Jailer to the primordial and mystical realm of the First Ones. Zereth Mortis is an ethereal world created by the progenior race that shaped the cosmos to be used as their workshop. The game will allow players to encounter an ancient race of automata who serve as guardians of the world along with an ancient group of familiar Brokers. The dungeon that is the raid Sepulcher of The First Ones will also come as part of the new update. The players will have to face off against the corrupted prince Anduin Wrynn as well The Jailer. As such, many are speculated that this might conclude the story of this expansion to the end.
The preview also revealed extra features being added with the update. These include the return of different sets of armor for specific classes. While they are not revolutionary the idea was scrapped in the Battle for Azeroth expansion in favour of sets that are separated by type of armor. Season 3 for both World of Warcraft PvP and Mythic+ Dungeons will be beginning with this new adventure. Conduits, professions and Soulbinds can be improved as users progress deeper into the story as well as smaller additions like mounts as well as pets. There's also dance-related mini-games that will be coming in the Darkmoon Fair.
